Behouden Huis makes it possible for the surplus value of a home to be ‘eaten’ without having to be relocated. The resident does not have to pay a rent and can, if desired, continue to live in the house until his death.

The resident remains 100% owner of the property until all payments have been made. This works with a deed of purchase and delivery, which includes a condition precedent for delivery. Behouden Huis will only become the owner of the property if all payments have been made or if the resident has died. In the event of early death, the remainder will be paid to surviving relatives. In 2017, Consumentenbond named Behouden Huis the best Sale and Leaseback product in the Netherlands.
