As a lawyer at FIZ advocaten, Nellemarie advises a broad range of financial institutions and other regulated entities on regulatory and compliance matters. Her expertise covers, among other things, anti-money laundering requirements, conduct of business rules, licensing obligations and ongoing regulatory compliance. She combines strong technical knowledge with a practical approach, ensuring that legal requirements are translated into clear and actionable advice.

Her down-to-earth Zeeland roots keep her firmly grounded, and she is not easily deterred by complex regulatory challenges. Before joining FIZ advocaten, Nellemarie was partner at Finway, where she advised clients on a wide range of financial regulatory matters. Prior to that, she worked in the financial regulatory practice of Van Benthem & Keulen, where she had been active since 2018. Earlier in her career, she worked at Rabobank as an interim legal counsel specialising in MiFID II implementation. As a lawyer, she was also seconded to a major Dutch bank, where she supported client due diligence and KYC remediation projects under the Dutch Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft).
Drawing on both private practice and in-house experience, Nellemarie has a deep understanding of the regulatory and operational challenges faced by financial institutions. This enables her to provide advice that is not only legally sound, but also practical and aligned with the realities of her clients’ businesses.
